My Pioneer head unit wont work with my ipod dock?

Hey all, my Pioneer DEH-P7000UB head unit will work with an ipod cable but not an ipod dock. This is quite a pain as ive built myself a custom slot in my car to fit the dock. When I put my ipod in the dock the head unit says its incompatible. Any ideas, perhaps I could rewire the docks circuit board or remove something?
Please don’t answer unless you know what to do.

I have one. It only supports ipods with a 30 pin dock connector.
